About Our School

Dinuba Adult School is located in the central San Joaquin Valley of California and is located on the Northern tip of rural
Tulare County in the city of Dinuba. Dinuba has a population of 24,465: 86.8% Hispanic, 10.4% White and 2.02% Asian.
Just under 70% of the population speak a non-English language. The poverty rate is nearly 30% and the median family
income is $38,008. Many of our families work in agriculture, doing field labor or farm work. The nearest college (9
miles) is Reedley Community College, and it is the college where most Dinuba Adult School students transition into and
attend.

Dinuba Adult School serves adult learners with opportunities in earning a high school diploma as well as taking courses in
learning English as a second language, career courses in welding, automotive, medical terminology, computer basics for
EL learners, emergency medical technician, certificated nurse assistant and an educational instructional assistant.
Dinuba Adult School provides students with a robust individualized educational program towards graduation with a high
school diploma. Students meet an average of once per week with their instructor and are required to complete a minimum
of 20 hours of academic work per week. Students meet with their instructors on campus. Students are provided with
content specific learning units on a weekly basis that are to be completed at home and turned into their teacher the
subsequent week. Each learning unit is worth one credit. Students must complete an end of unit assessment before moving
onto each subsequent packet. The hours that students spend with their teacher is tentatively scheduled as 15 minutes for
review of homework, 30 minutes of instruction and 15 minutes to review new homework assignments. Dinuba Adult
School provides an alternative education placement to those students who function best in a highly individualized and
minimal school setting.

Dinuba Adult School provides academic and socio-emotional support to students that include an onsite Special Education
teacher, 504 Coordinator, School Psychologist, School Resource Officer and academic case management. SVHS also
coordinates with outside agencies for services including alcohol/drug and mental health counseling and crisis intervention.
We also partner with the State Center for Adult Education Consortium to provide college and career counseling for our
students.
